Mobile app design for Floriss.no
Personal Project
Tools: Figma, Adobe Photoshop
Context:
This is a self-initiated mobile app design for Floriss.no, a Norwegian florist based in Oslo. The company currently operates through their website, but I saw an opportunity to create a dedicated mobile experience that could better serve customers who primarily shop on mobile devices.
Floriss.no only has a website
(no native mobile app)
High interaction cost: Users need 3–4 taps before seeing actual products.
Homepage shows "Inspirasjon", "Anledninger" (occasions) instead of products. Extra click required - Users must click category first, then see products
Content-heavy approach
More editorial than e-commerce
No English option - Language barriers
Native Mobile App Design
Thumb-zone optimized (bottom 40% of screen)
One-handed operation
Industry standard (native app feel)
Home page + Category page
Current Floriss.no:
Homepage → Inspirasjon/Anledninger → Category → Products (3-4 taps to product)
My App Design:
Homepage = Products Featured + Quick Categories
(1 tap to product OR 2 taps maximum)
Conversion-Optimized Layout
80/20 rule: Products first, content second
Prioritized product thumbnails, pricing and CTA visibility.
Reduced Interaction Cost
Re-designed navigation and homepage structure reduce the number of taps from 3–4 to 1–2, lowering friction during product discovery.
Smoother Checkout Flow
Streamlined steps (fewer form fields, clearer CTAs) reduce cognitive load during checkout. Commonly linked with higher order completion in e-commerce apps.
Better One-Handed Usability
Thumb-zone optimization enhances comfort for daily use, especially when ordering on-the-go.
Increased Inclusivity & Market Reach
Adding EN + NO makes the app accessible to Oslo’s growing expat population (~20%), supporting potential market expansion.
